Cosmetics and personal care formulation analysis
What ingredients can be identified in a cream or shampoo, and how does a reference product differ from your trial batch? Chengfenbao investigates the composition of cosmetics and personal care formulations. We connect supported ingredient identities and estimated contributions to your development question, with an English report that keeps uncertainty visible. The analysis describes the material submitted. A composition comparison can guide formulation work, while texture, manufacturing conditions and the order of addition remain matters for your development trials.
Discuss your sampleWhat we analyze
Projects include face creams, lotions, shampoo, body wash, serums and the fragrance in finished products. Tell us the product type, intended use, physical form and the ingredient groups you want to understand. We confirm sample quantity and receiving arrangements before shipment. Samples already in China can be sent by domestic courier after confirmation.
Common questions concern accessible surfactants, emollients, humectants, fragrance constituents and other retained formulation components. A reference product and a trial sample can be compared side by side. For a batch-difference question, include a satisfactory retained batch and the questioned batch, describing storage, separation and any changes already made to the samples.
How we work
GC-MS and GC-MS/MS can investigate suitable fragrance and other accessible organic components. High-resolution LC-MS and LC-MS/MS support investigation of suitable non-volatile ingredients. FTIR may add chemical-family evidence for an isolated or dominant contribution. Complex mixtures can contain overlapping signals, so not every ingredient can be assigned a unique identity.
Wet chemistry, including solids content, moisture, pH and UV-Vis where relevant, helps describe a formulation or compare batches. XRF, XRD, ICP-MS and ICP-OES are considered only when an agreed inorganic or elemental question calls for them. We explain the basis of each finding and distinguish a semi-quantitative estimate from a quantitative measurement.
What you receive
The conclusion card answers the agreed question in plain language and relates the findings to the submitted sample. We distinguish analytical evidence from background information supplied with the inquiry.
The component table lists supported identities and estimated proportions. Some entries may be chemical families rather than individual compounds. Proportions are semi-quantitative estimates, not quantitative measurements; a complete formula is not promised.
The data appendix records the methods used and supporting evidence. A separate account of what could not be determined explains unresolved components, overlapping findings and relevant sample limitations, so your team can judge what the report supports.
How to start
Tell us the product type and use, available sample quantity, any known formulation information, what you want to find out and whether a reference sample is available. We reply within 24 hours and agree the analytical scope before issuing a fixed quotation in USD.
Samples accepted worldwide; contact us before shipping. We confirm sample quantity, packaging and documents with you first. Samples already in China can go by domestic courier. Request an NDA before sharing confidential details if needed. The quotation confirms the project schedule and delivery arrangements.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you analyze a competitor's cream or shampoo?
- Yes. Describe the reference product and the composition question. We report supported ingredient findings and estimated proportions, with unresolved components clearly identified, rather than promise a complete manufacturing formula.
- Can you compare two batches of the same product?
- Yes. Provide clearly labelled samples with comparable storage histories and explain the observed difference. Chemical findings can help direct development work but do not by themselves establish why the batches differ.
- Can you identify the fragrance in a finished product?
- Not every constituent can be promised. Suitable accessible fragrance components may be identified, while overlapping or minor ingredients can remain unresolved. Neat fragrance oils and perfumes cannot be shipped to us from overseas; send the finished product instead, or contact us if the material is already in China.
- Will the report contain exact ingredient percentages?
- Reported proportions are semi-quantitative estimates unless a separate quantitative scope is agreed. We describe their basis and limitations, and do not present estimated contributions as exact starting-formula percentages.
