Compositional analysis and chemical composition analysis
What are the main ingredients in this product, and how much does each appear to contribute? Compositional analysis investigates the chemistry of the sample you supply. Chengfenbao combines evidence about organic components, inorganic ingredients and the base material into an English report. We separate a supported compound identity from a broader chemical-family assignment. Chemical composition analysis can guide product development or a purchasing comparison, while the unresolved portion stays visible rather than being filled with guessed ingredients.

Suitable projects include coatings and paints, inks, adhesives and sealants, rubber and elastomers, plastics and masterbatch, additives and raw materials, cleaners, lubricating greases, concrete admixtures, and cosmetics and personal care products. We confirm the physical form and receiving arrangements before shipping. A cured film and its original liquid formulation are different analytical specimens.
Tell us whether you need an overview of the main components or an investigation of a particular ingredient class. Known formulation information, a reference product or supplier documentation can help define the question. We keep that background separate from findings established by analyzing the submitted sample.
How we work
FTIR provides binder and polymer-family evidence. GC-MS and GC-MS/MS address suitable volatile or accessible organic compounds. High-resolution LC-MS and LC-MS/MS support investigation of appropriate non-volatile additives. Several ingredients may overlap, so a single signal is not treated as a complete formulation.
XRF and ICP-MS or ICP-OES provide elemental information; XRD helps identify suitable crystalline ingredients. Elemental results alone do not name the original raw material. Wet chemistry, including solids content, moisture, pH and UV-Vis where relevant, helps describe the sample and interpret estimated contributions. The report explains the basis of each estimate.
What you receive
The conclusion card answers the agreed question in plain language and relates the findings to the submitted sample. We distinguish analytical evidence from background information supplied with the inquiry.
The component table lists supported identities and estimated proportions. Some entries may be chemical families rather than individual compounds. Proportions are semi-quantitative estimates, not quantitative measurements; a complete formula is not promised.
The data appendix records the methods used and supporting evidence. A separate account of what could not be determined explains unresolved components, overlapping findings and relevant sample limitations, so your team can judge what the report supports.
How to start
Tell us the product type and use, available sample quantity, any known formulation information, what you want to find out and whether a reference sample is available. We reply within 24 hours and agree the analytical scope before issuing a fixed quotation in USD.
Samples accepted worldwide; contact us before shipping. We confirm sample quantity, packaging and documents with you first. Samples already in China can go by domestic courier. Request an NDA before sharing confidential details if needed. The quotation confirms the project schedule and delivery arrangements.
Frequently asked questions
- Will every ingredient be named?
- No. Some components can be named as compounds, others only as chemical families. Trace ingredients, overlapping signals and reacted materials may remain unresolved, and the report identifies those limits.
- Are estimated proportions quantitative results?
- No. Semi-quantitative proportions are estimates with method and matrix limitations. A request for a quantitative result for a named compound needs a separately agreed analytical scope and suitable basis.
- Can you distinguish inorganic and organic contributions?
- We select complementary methods to investigate both where appropriate. A measured element, an identified compound and an inferred ingredient contribution are different findings and are labelled accordingly.
- Can the report help compare two formulations?
- Yes. Comparable samples allow a side-by-side assessment of supported ingredient and proportion differences. Differences in curing, storage or sample preparation must be considered when interpreting the comparison.
